Future of Work
Almost half of employers believe that the skills gap is growing, and have expressed a high level of concern over the skills shortage. With technology blending into many positions, most business sectors are feeling the pressure of the skills gap.
Business need to adopt a methodology on identifying and addressing the skills gap and build a strategy in place to address it. By also considering the different routes to qualification, the need right now is to educate the industry on the technologies that are impacting businesses today.
A McKinsey’s report suggests 6.6 million UK jobs will be displaced by 2030 and most of future tech jobs have not yet been created. There is an urgent need to ensure the next generation of IT talent have the skills to work with emerging technologies.

Companies of all sizes need to attract build and retain diverse teams since, due the digital skills shortage, many companies can’t go through a digital transformation. People need training and solutions will come from listening to both the outputs that employers are seeking alongside asking career changers what they want.
The digital inclusion issue and lack of diversity, and actions to take, involve everyone in the tech ecosystem. This includes gender based diversity issues. We need to address the education sector and how we’re going to tackle not only the skills shortage, but the shortage of females in the tech industry.

CareerTech Path
There is a need to ensure the Tech talent pipeline and provide insights and examine how to ensure this is maintained when scaling. Digital Inclusion is social inclusion that ensures individuals and disadvantaged groups have access and skills to use digital tools. It is about transforming lives, particularly for those groups most excluded.
Our express aim is to provide resources across three key working streams:
(1) Skills and Talent (2) Apprenticeships (3) Ed Tech
Tech London Advocates (TLA)
We belong to the TLA Education working group. TLA Ed is a London based network of individuals and organisations, interested and active in the UK education ecosystem working together, to develop stronger links and cooperation .
As a member of the Tech London Advocates (TLA), LBAcademy is committed to the ‘Road to One Million’ campaign which was launched in November 2018 at Mansion House. The aim is to have “One million digital and tech jobs in the capital by 2023”. At LBAcademy, we also have a focus on the BAME community, which is one of the campaign’s leading objectives.
